State of the art recycling complex is taking shape.
Winters Material Recovery Centre in Hitchen is taking shape. Walls are being removed and offices added to streamline the processing of 100,000 tonnes of waste per year. The centre will use the latest technology and processes to help us continue our work not just of removing waste from public view, but by sorting, recycling and diverting up to 95% of it away from landfills by bringing it back into the production lines for reuse. That's 95,000 tonnes of waste per year kept out of landfills for a greener future.
Hitchin - to open in early March
We are delighted to announce the opening of our state-of-the-art recycling centre in early March.
Licensed to take in 100,000 ton of waste a year our Material Recovery Centre (MRF) has the benefit of 4,000 square feet of office space which will be utilised as a waste training facility. Our recycling centre, adjacent to the back of the building, can be accessed from the main building and viewed on arranged training days.
With over £3m worth of investment the site will create 30 jobs and recycle core products such as: paper, cardboard, plastics, wood, metals, plasterboard, green waste and textiles diverting 90-95% from landfill.
Fully supported by WRAP and with planning permission granted this brings Winters to the next level of recycling in the ever-changing and growing industry of waste.
This facility is for Hertfordshire and working in tandem with the Environment Agency and Hertfordshire county council we intend to address the burgeoning problem of waste in the county.
